JOB SUMMARY: The Mining Technology Application Specialist works directly with mining clients to ensure they receive maximum return on investments made in mining technology. Responsibilities include actively listening to clients’ needs and goals in order to assist them when in ensuring technology tools are configured in a manner that allows data to be collected to be able to drive actionable results. The Mining Technology Application Specialists will work with Cat MineStar systems, PowerBi and other tools from implementation to continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Safety
• Actively cares, promotes, manages, and advocates safety at Western States. As a leader and team member in the organization, it is critical to ensure all employees, vendors, and clients have a safe work environment while adhering to all applicable safety policies, procedures, and standards.
• Maintains clean/clutter free personal work areas to ensure safe environments for all WSECO employees.
• Adhering to required personal protective equipment (PPE) as identified in safety policy.

Client Support
• Works directly with mining technology clients ensuring products are providing desired results along with enabling client success.
• Hosts client meetings weekly to review, set and complete action items. Provides direction and consulting to clients on how to be use MineStar systems.
• Tracks and manages clients support requests and product improvement requests, escalates issues as need to Cat for further support and resolution.
• Provides training to clients on how to utilize office and on machine solutions as needed. When needed works with external resources to provide clients with training needed.

Technology Support
• Develops and evolves an expert level knowledge base of mining technology to understand functionality, requirements along with client benefits.
• Troubleshoots, determines root cause, and corrects software and hardware issues on mining technology products in a timely manner.
• Works with Cat technology teams to resolve issues along with elevating client enhancement requests to ensure solutions are developed in a manner to fit client’s needs.
• Reviews release notes and product improvements, informs clients on improvements made and how to apply them to their business.

Mining Application
• Develops and evolves a working knowledge of mining operations from explorations to reclamation. Uses this knowledge to turn client challenges into opportunities for success utilizing technology solutions.
• Converts data and information to actionable insights utilizing reporting tools including PowerBi. Adjust reports to meet client expectations along with ensuring they are meaningful.
• Reviews clients mining operations and how technology is being utilized, provides consulting and best practice sharing to ensure technology systems are configured in the best way possible to support clients in reducing their cost per ton.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft computer products or other comparable systems required.
• Experience with or ability to quickly learn various software systems
• Proven skills in written and verbal communications, planning, organizing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• One-year minimum experience supporting construction technology or MineStar solutions preferred.
• Six months minimum in Relational Database Knowledge experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.

Competencies
• Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Technical of Business type degree from a four-year college or university
• Experience working in Mining or with Mining equipment is preferred but not required.
• Must have 4 to 5 years' experience in development and delivery of Training content.
• Demonstrates strong selling skills and makes sales that meet customer needs.
• Ability to listen to all points of view and negotiate with internal and external customers.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Build and maintain Maintenance Scheduling Tasks, such as oil sampling, oil & air filters changes, and oil changes, for each piece of production equipment. Coordinate with departments the start and finish times for PMs, in order to ensure all needs are addressed prior to the PM starting. Plan and schedule all Scheduled Maintenance such as, washing of equipment, routine maintenance checks/adjustments, changing brushes on electric motor, and the other tasks falling under the description of a PM (Preventive Maintenance). Maintaining records as required regarding job progress, costs, material usage, etc. Build and maintain the component files for each piece of production equipment, in order to plan and schedule Rebuilds of Major Components such as engines, transmissions, wheel motors, differentials, finals, and many other mining equipment components. Manage component rebuilds. Properly label and mail in all oil and coolant samples and share the resulting information with the entire maintenance group to get good and timely repairs to our equipment. Order parts and stage them for all repairs before the production machine is brought down for repairs. Build and maintain working relationships with vendors who can provide us with products and services at competitive and effective rates. Working with suppliers as required facilitating the handling and expediting delivery of materials Help develop a budget for those pieces of equipment that each planner is responsible. Follow that budget closely to get all the necessary maintenance done on time. Inspect equipment at the fueling lunch lines to check for any anomalies. Visit with the operators about problems they are having with equipment and make work orders to get these problems corrected at PM time if possible. Check over PM books just before they go to the shop floor for the PM, to ensure the work orders in the book are relevant. Such as; checking to make sure that the open work-orders need to be done at this PM maybe some work can be put off until later or this work has already been done. Estimate downtime that is necessary to complete backlog work orders. Close the PM Books and backlog work orders with completion comments whenever possible. Build Microsoft Projects with Gantt charts for large jobs that involve a number of different vendors, jobs that require a lot of equipment and points of progression jobs.
